Fire, failure and a burnt cheescake

Reader, the holidays are upon us and with that inevitably comes a season of baking all the things.

Some days you pull a perfectly baked cheesecake out of the oven without a crack in the top and later reveal said cheesecake unscathed to your marveling guests.

Other days, you walk into the kitchen horror stricken as you pull open the oven door to a pool of smoke, a scorched cheesecake, and immediately sulk in your shame to the tune of "fire, fire, fire" resounding from your smoke alarm.

Now imagine - that cheesecake is your business, 2022's goals, a big launch or project, basically insert whatever thing you've poured hours of your life into.

Following a recipe to a T, albeit for baking or business, could still end in an oven-bottom, puddled with smoking butter and a scorched cheesecake.

Something you [or someone else] have done a thousand times over can go wrong by just one ingredient and leave you wanting to throw in the apron.

If business (or baking) were that easy and guaranteed no failure, everyone would do it.

But alas, "everyone" isn't here.

You are, Reader.

Which means that a burnt cheesecake or failed set of goals didn't deter you from sticking it out and trying again.

The next time you step up to try that recipe - or launch that course - a small adjustment to the quantity of butter in the crust or the seal on the springform pan might just land you the ending you hoped for, ie - the applause of adoring guests who praise your baking skills and tell you over and over how great you [and your cheesecake] really are.

Okay, maybe that's asking a bit much. You get the picture.

Your resilience is the key ingredient in that "try again" part.

And as a business owner, resilience is the very thing that will see you through the next set of trials, successes and smoke pouring out of the oven-top of a project to the tune of "fire fire" or your raging thoughts of "failure failure".

You can rewrite the tale of the burnt cheesecake in whatever fashion you'd like and the next time you tell it, you could be the one who has everyone rolling in laughter at your description of whatever your burnt cheesecake story is.

Or maybe you're the one with words of wisdom, the right adjustments to the recipe or a moral boost to someone who feels like they're in the smoke-filled apartment of a business or just in life.

Whatever your burnt cheesecake story is, you have the power to turn it into something that speaks life and light into other's lives and continue to build up that resilience of your's so that the next time a moment like this comes around and "failure failure" threatens to have you throw that beloved cheesecake recipe in the garbage - you can kick them to the curb, make the necessary butter measurement adjustment and try again.

You know the end result is worth it - be it applause from your adoring, cheesecake-loving friends, or that business you're building that affords you to the life you dream of living.

Either way, it's worth putting the apron back on and trying again - don't you agree?

If this resonated in any way, be sure to reply and let me know. And if you have any of your own "failure, failure" thoughts blazing through your mind as the year comes to a close - my inbox is open, friend.

xoxo, Rachael
